71-year-old freshman of online Bachelor’s Degree in Law

Mr. Nguyen Van Tan – 71 years old, has just become a first-year law student at the Open University of Ho Chi Minh City. It is worth mentioning that at this age, he chose to study online.

 

On the morning of January 10, Ho Chi Minh City Open University held the opening of an online bachelor’s program for 650 new students. Among these new students is Mr. Nguyen Van Tan, 71 years old (born in 1950).

 

Talking to us, freshman Nguyen Van Tan said that he originally planned to study for a law degree at a law university at night. However, he decided to study an online bachelor’s degree program because he can study at any time. He feared it would be difficult for his health to keep up with the curriculum when he chose to learn at night. After completing the bachelor’s program, he would continue to strive for higher education like a master’s degree.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tan received a 50% of tuition fees scholarship from Ho Chi Minh City Open University

Mr. Tan also said that he passed the 1st Baccalaureate in 1968 and the 2nd Baccalaureate in 1969. He studied abroad on a United Nations scholarship to study engineering in the sugar industry in 1970. He returned home in 1972 and worked at the General Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Vietnam Sugar Company.

 

To encourage the learning spirit of Mr. Nguyen Van Tan, Ho Chi Minh City Open University decided to award a 50% of the tuition fee scholarship.
