Talkshow “State budget and civic engagement” for Law students

Within the framework of the Youth’s Budget project funded by the US Department of State through the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative, it works to raise awareness and promote the engagement of students and young people in Ho Chi Minh City in public administration in general and the state budget in particular. The talkshow was jointly organized by the Center for Development and Integration (CDI) as the project sponsor, and the Open University of Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday morning, August 26, 2021, on the Google Meet platform.

The talk show with the topic ” State Budget and Civic Engagement” attracted the Law students of Open University HCMC to join. The show had the participation of Assoc. Ph.D. Vu Sy Cuong (Deputy Head of Financial Policy Analysis Department, Faculty of Public Finance – Academy of Finance) and Ms. Luong Thu Huong (Lecturer of Law Faculty, Open University of Ho Chi Minh City).

The main content was the budget process and civic engagement in relation to Vietnam’s budget system, the state budget process, and how people can participate in the process.

At the end of the discussion, students asked questions and interacted directly with the presenter. Some hot issues are interested many students such as how to mobilize the substantive participation of people/youth in nation budget management; the ability to contribute ideas to the Nation budget’s estimation in 2022 of Citizens/Youths, social organizations; etc. Through sharing and in-depth analysis, students strengthened and expanded their knowledge in the field of economic law.
